Craftspace 'Curious about Craft'
Stop Motion Ident
Director: Drew Roper
Produced by: Yamination Studios
Content Type: Stop motion brand ident
Objective:
Celebrate Craftspace’s 30-year legacy of championing contemporary craft
Create a handcrafted stop motion ident that embodies Craftspace’s inclusive, socially engaged ethos
Deliver versatile animated assets for use across digital platforms and events
What We Did:
To mark 30 years of Craftspace’s pioneering work in contemporary craft, we collaborated with the Birmingham-based charity to create a tactile stop motion ident that celebrates making by hand. Animating real people’s hands, we choreographed seven makers entering frame, each holding a different craft tool, a scalpel, pencil, scissors, and more. Together, they cut and snip at an A4 sheet of paper, gradually revealing the illustrated tagline: ‘Curious about Craft.’
As the hands exit, the paper folds itself into the Craftspace logo, an elegant transformation that mirrors the magic of making. The animation was designed to reflect Craftspace’s values of collaboration, creativity, and community.
